Please note that online registration closes on Saturday, September 30th at 11:59pm.  There is no race day registration on Sunday at the event.  Packet pick-up is Saturday, September 30th at Pacers Running Store in Clarendon, VA from 10:30am-4:00pm. You are encouraged to pick up your bib and packet on Saturday.  You can also pick up your bib and packet on the morning of the race.  Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes early if you intend to pick up your bib and packet on Sunday at the event.  The 10K run will start promptly at 8:00am.

Registration for the Boo! Run for Life 10K run is managed by RunWashington Timing using the ChronoTrack timing system.

You may register as a team by designating the team name in the text box provided. Teams may have an unlimited number of runners; however, for awards purposes only the first four runners will be scored (minimum of one male, one female in first four).

We cannot process registrations at the event due to National Park Service regulations.

Course / Map

The Boo! Run takes place in West Potomac Park in Washington, DC. The 10K run starts just south of the Lincoln Memorial on Ohio Dr. The course then crosses the Inlet Bridge on Ohio Dr and continues along the Potomac River to Hains Point in East Potomac Park. Runners continue around Hains Point and turn around in a parking lot.

The 2-mile walk also starts in West Potomac Park. After crossing the Inlet Bridge, walkers circle the Tidal Basin and return to the Finish Line via West Basin Dr SW.

Awards

Prizes will be awarded to the overall male and female winners, as well as the individual winners in each age group. Overall winners will be scored on clock time, while age group winners will be scored using the ChronoTrack disposable D-tag system.

The top team will also be awarded a prize. Teams may have an unlimited number of runners; however, only the first four runners score (minimum of one male, one female in first four).

Race Packets

You can pick up your race packet on the morning of the event at the check-in area, or on Saturday, September 30th at Pacers Running Store in Clarendon, VA, from 10:30am-4:00pm.  You are encouraged to pick up your bib and packet on Saturday.  Plan to arrive at least 45 minutes early if you intend to pick up your bib and packet at the event.  The 10K run will start promptly at 8:00am.

Parking / Transportation

Race participants and spectators may park in lots A, B, and C under I-395. To enter these lots, cars must enter Ohio Dr via East Basin Dr on the far side of the Jefferson memorial. The officers at the intersection of Ohio Dr and East Basin Dr will direct cars towards the lots. However, between 7:50am and 9:30am no cars will be allowed in or out of these lots; drivers must wait until 9:30am when Ohio Dr reopens.

Alternatively, there may be street parking north of Constitution Avenue NW between 18th – 23rd Streets NW. From here, the Start/Finish line is a short walk south on 23rd street just past the Lincoln Memorial.

Or, there is a modest parking lot bordering the Tidal Basin off of Maine Ave SW near the intersection of Maine Ave SW and Independence Ave SW. From here, the Start/Finish line is a short walk on Independence Ave towards the Lincoln Memorial.

Or, look for side street parking south of Independence Ave SW between 14th – 12th Streets NW. From here, the Start/Finish line is a short walk on Independence Ave towards the Lincoln Memorial.

Or, please consider having a friend drop you off at Independence Ave SW & Ohio Dr SW before the run, and then ride Metro home. The closest metro stops to the event site are Smithsonian or Foggy Bottom/GWU on the orange and blue lines.

Please note, there is no parking on Ohio Drive in West Potomac Park in the vicinity of the Start/Finish line. There is also no parking along Independence Avenue at any time.

FAQs and Policies

Will there be race day registration?
There will be no race day registration at the event due to National Park Service regulations. Online registration closes on Saturday, September 30th at 11:59pm. Race packets can be picked up onsite on the morning of the event.
Is there a bag check?
Yes, there will be a bag check at the event. Items are left at your own risk. Items not retrieved by 10:30am at the event will be held by the organizers for 7 days. After 7 days the items will be donated to charity.
Safety:
The safety of participants and spectators is our top priority. Organizers reserve the right to slow, redirect, or remove anyone not acting safe.
Course changes:
Organizers may alter the published course at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to road or trail construction, runner safety, municipality requirements, road conditions due to weather, or other situations. Predetermined course changes will be posted in the Announcements section of our homepage and on our Facebook page.
Weather considerations:
The event will be held rain or shine. Organizers reserve the right to delay an event start for any reason, including weather. Typically events will be delayed up to 30 minutes prior to start if there is lightning.
Change or cancellation of the event:
Organizers as advised by the Police and Fire/EMS Departments, may cancel, shorten, or alter any event or course due to weather, other acts of God, terrorism, or at their discretion. In the case of event change, all entry fees are non-refundable and may not be deferred toward a future event. Organizers also reserve the right to change a race to an untimed “fun run” without advance notice. Final decisions regarding changes and cancelations will be made within an hour to a half hour prior to the start of the race and will be announced on Facebook and within the Announcements section of our web site.

Headphones:

A participant who chooses to wear headphones while running assumes full responsibility for their use. Runners must be able to hear all instructions and directions given by race course personnel and be aware of their surroundings at all times.
Strollers:
Strollers are allowed on the run and walk course. Strollers must start in the back, may not weave through packs of runners, and must always yield the right of way to other runners.
Pets:
Dogs on 5 foot, non-retractable leashes are permitted on the run and walk course. Dogs must be friendly, be up to date with shots, and have no history of fighting or biting. Pet owners take full responsibility for the behavior of their pet, must start towards the back, may not weave through packs of runners, must yield the right of way to other runners, and must clean up after their pet.
Photos:
Participants agree to the use of their name and photograph in broadcasts, newspapers, brochures, and other media without compensation. Any photos made available for download are the property of our charity through a license agreement and may not be used for non-personal use without the express written consent of our charity and our photographers.
